Our Guide to Melbourne Indesign 2014
The moment is here – after months of preparation and hard work by our entrants we’ll reveal the winners of the Bathroom Innovation Awards 2014 this Friday, as part of our involvement in Melbourne Indesign 2014. But of course there’s plenty to see and do during the two day event, so here’s our guide to all the highlights.
Held biannually since 2004 as ‘Saturday in Design’, the event was refreshed and debuted last year as Sydney Indesign: The Event, before this year moving to Melbourne. The event is an invaluable opportunity to explore the latest products and revolutionary ideas from local and international brands through showrooms, pop-up spaces, installations, product launches, guests, seminars, workshops and demonstrations.
There will be plenty of great experiences this Friday and Saturday as part of this year’s event with the best brands and products on show across four design precincts: Collingwood, Fitzroy, Melbourne CBD and Richmond. The four precincts are well connected by trams and free buses, but the heart of the event is Galleria, a multi-storey design experience in Melbourne CBD Design Precinct to totally immerse you in the latest and greatest.
On level 1 of Galleria, you’ll find Reece, where not only will we be holding the winner’s announcement, but also unveiling Suspended Animation, a visual exploration of this year’s BIA process, as well as showcasing the professional winner’s prototype created by Omvivo especially for this event.
After visiting Reece, there’s plenty more on show in Galleria, including brands such as CIBO design, Seehosu and Satelight Design, where you might come across two time professional BIA winner, Duncan Ward.
Keep an eye out for special events dotted across the city throughout the weekend. We’re looking forward to Saturday’s DQ Round Table Discussion in Collingwood which will bring together the brightest design minds of Melbourne and beyond. Pulling from a range of disciplines, the panel will discuss the way their respective industries function and how design can be improved by their collaboration.
With so many creative ideas in the one place, this is one design event not to be missed.
