We are delighted to announce the 2013 Reece Bathroom Innovation Award winners.
This year’s theme was technology and the international judging panel were overwhelmed by the considered approach demonstrated by entrants to incorporating technology to enhance the bathroom experience.
The winners as announced at Sydney Indesign on 17 August are:
Professional winner – Chris Connell
Principal at Melbourne’s Chris Connell Design, Chris was awarded the Professional Prize of $20,000 for his multi-dimensional shower unit, Wind Rain Fire, which combines an air extractor fan with a shower head.
This year’s judges praised Connell’s clever approach to creating a more streamlined bathroom by removing the need for separate exhaust fans and the careful balance of aesthetic, function and technology in the Wind Rain Fire product suite.
Student winner – Amanda Paukner
A final year Industrial Design student at the University of South Australia, Amanda won the Student Prize for her water saving touch screen shower panel, At The Touch. She was awarded the $10,000 prize along with $5,000 for her university.
The judging panel admired the simplicity of Paukner’s design and her clever approach to encouraging water saving behaviour through an in-shower display and touch screen control panel.
